Getting reimbursed

What can I be reimbursed for?
  • With Wallit, you can use your employer-funded monthly allowance to reimburse yourself for everyday purchases within the smart categories selected in your team's wellspace.

This page explains your reimbursement options, how reimbursements work, gives an example of how you might be reimbursed, and answers some common questions, like how to request a reimbursement claim for a purchase that should have been reimbursed.

Merchant Category Ids: What You Need To Know

Wallit utilizes Plaid’s application programming interface (API) to access purchase transaction data on our member’s credit card and debit card(s) after our members provide permission and login credentials to access their account(s).

This enables Wallit to help manage people's personal finances for their everyday spending and saving goals with real-time, instant budgeting and automated savings.

And, instead of simply displaying raw statement data, like you often see on your bank statements, Wallit provides improved account-level data with a “cleaned up” merchant name, a hierarchical category mapping, and assorted details about the merchant and purchase detail.

Most importantly, Wallit leverages this data in our matching transaction algorithm to provide our members with automatic reimbursement and merchant-funded cash back when members spend with their linked credit and debit card(s) to Wallit.

Wallit works with every retailer everywhere.

Members can use their Wallit to spend their monthly allowance and one-time rewards at any merchant and retailer, in-store or online, within selected categories.

Reimbursements occur within your Wallit for purchases you make in approved categories. Here are a few examples for how merchant categories are mapped to merchant categories IDs.

Requesting a reimbursement

Wallit automatically reimburses wellness purchases, but there may be instances where a purchase should be eligible for reimbursement and was missed.

If you believe you made a qualifying purchase that should have been reimbursed, you can submit a request within the Wallit app to report the transaction so we can investigate and validate the specific purchase.

Example

To submit a reimbursement request, follow these steps:

Desktop

  1. From your desktop, open your Wallit app.
  2. Click the   Accounts tab from the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Click the checking account where the purchase was made.
  4. Scroll to find the purchase and swipe left on the transaction.
  5. Click the "Reimburse" button and a ticket will be opened to research your request.

Mobile - iOS and Android

  1. From your mobile device, open your Wallit app.
  2. Tap the   Accounts tab from the bottom navigation bar.
  3. Tap the checking account where the purchase was made.
  4. Scroll to find the purchase and swipe left on the transaction.
  5. Tap the "Reimburse" button and a ticket will be opened to research your request.

Note: If a reimbursement request is greater than the available monthly allowance balance, the difference will pend for up to one year and be reimbursed as funds become available in an active account.

You may contact us to report the transaction so we can investigate and validate the specific purchase.
