At Wallit, information security and privacy a top priority. We work hard to protect your information, such as by using encryption and other measures to help safeguard your money and data. This article describes the measures undertaken at Wallit to ensure the protection of your data.


How you're protected.

Wallit complies with industry regulations to help people gain a greater level of control over their data, while offering more transparency throughout the data collection and use process.

The Wallit Security Team uses a number of industry-standard measures to protect your account and ensure your experience with us is safe and secure. We understand that you place a lot of trust in our services, and we're constantly working to ensure Wallit is one of the safest places for you to build your financial future.

There are a number of ways we work to keep your Wallit account safe.

Wallit provides:

  • SSL Encryption: The website and mobile apps are secured with 256-bit encryption
  • Account Alerts: We will contact you about unusual account activity for protection against fraud
  • Bank-level Security: Secure servers, security and privacy verified by the top digital security and privacy companies, and physical security
  • Account Safeguards: Multi-factor authentication, automatic logouts, and ID verification help prevent unauthorized access
  • ID theft protection for credit, identity and bank accounts against identity theft

We also require your social security number in order to issue you a tax reporting form at the end of the year.


How your purchase data is handled.

When you link your credit or debit card, Wallit has access to purchases you've made with that linked card. When you connect a Direct Deposit account, Wallit has the ability to transfer money to your connected bank account.

In order to deliver a seamless experience and to ensure the highest level of security and privacy, Wallit partners with market leaders in financial technology such as Plaid (for connecting our members’ Cards and Direct Deposit accounts) and Stripe (for connecting an Employers’ Cards and Direct Deposit accounts). Which personal data is collected and processed?

When you register for Wallit, you must provide the following personal information to verify your identity:

  • First and Last Name
  • E-mail address (preferably your company e-mail address)
  • Your mobile number
  • Debit and/or credit card number(s)
  • Your date of birth
  • The last four digits of our social security number
  • Details relating to payments made with your debit and credit card accounts you choose to link to Wallit, such as the payee, the date and the time of the transaction

Eligible Purchases

  • We securely store all purchases that are eligible for reimbursement and retain them indefinitely for tax compliance purposes.

Ineligible Purchases

  • Any purchases that are not eligible for reimbursement are stored securely for 60 days and then deleted. Employers never have access to these purchases, ensuring maximum privacy and security for our users.


How secure is my personal information?

We use a range of physical, electronic and managerial measures to keep your personal information secure, accurate and relevant. These measures and our information security policies are closely aligned with widely accepted international standards, reviewed regularly and updated as necessary to meet our business needs and changes in technology and regulatory requirements.

All communication to our data center - ranging from the data you submit to the actions you perform - is encrypted with HTTPS & TLS.


Where is my data stored?

All data is hosted on AWS servers operated in United States. We take the proper precautions to protect your personal data from unauthorized access.


Do you share my data with third-party providers?

In order to improve our services, we may aggregate and anonymize purchase data. We do not share or sell this data to any third parties.

Note: Unlike free social media companies that generate revenue by monetizing your data, Wallit relies on subscription revenue from your employer for administering their benefits, rewards and expense reimbursement programs. We do not, never will, and have no incentive to share or sell your data. Plus, if you don’t feel comfortable connecting a card, you can always manually add individual eligible purchases with receipts to receive a reimbursement.
